Committees of the Doctoral Center

Doctoral Committee

The Doctoral Committee consists of:

  • the spokesperson for the Doctoral Center (by virtue of office),
  • Chair of the Doctoral Committee,
  • a faculty member and a deputy from the technical/natural sciences field,
  • a faculty member and a deputy from the non-technical/non-natural sciences field,
  • a staff member (and, if possible, a deputy) from the administrative office
  • a doctoral candidate and a substitute
  • one external faculty member (from a university or university of applied sciences with its own doctoral program)

Management of the Doctoral Center

The Center’s leadership consists of a spokesperson, a deputy spokesperson, and a representative of the PZNW administrative office staff. The leadership represents the PZNW in its academic affairs, both internally and externally. Its responsibilities are outlined in the Doctoral Center’s bylaws.

  • Prof. Dr. Andreas Büter, Deputy Spokesperson of the Doctoral Center
  • Dr. Susanne Kühner, Coordinator of the Doctoral Center

  • Prof. Dr. Roger Weinlein (Term: November 2022 – November 2025)

General Meeting

The General Assembly consists of all full professors and doctoral candidates.

The duties of the General Assembly are:

  • to receive and approve the annual report;
  • electing the members of the Members’ Council, the Center’s Executive Board, and the Doctoral Committee

Scientific Advisory Board

The Scientific Advisory Board advises the PZNW and supports it in shaping and further developing its content and academic focus
.
The Scientific Advisory Board consists of at least six external members. These
are researchers from universities of applied sciences (HAWen)
and universities, as well as at least one additional external member with a social mission.

Members' Council

The PZNW Members' Council consists of:

  • the Center’s management
  • four faculty members, two each from the technical/natural sciences and two from the non-technical/natural sciences fields;
  • three doctoral candidates.

Supervisory Board

The supervisory board consists of:

  • President of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences;
  • Chancellor of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences;
  • Vice President for Research at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences;
  • Spokesperson for the PZNW (in an advisory capacity);
  • a representative of the PZNW Secretariat (in an advisory capacity); and
  • a representative of the HMWK (in an advisory capacity)
