Funding Options for Doctoral Studies

h_da Doctoral Scholarships

Due to the tight financial situation, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences will unfortunately not be able to award any doctoral scholarships in fiscal year 2026.

As soon as funding becomes available again, the scholarships will be publicly advertised by the university and awarded in accordance with the applicable scholarship guidelines.

The Office for Gender Equality is once again offering doctoral fellowships for women as part of the current cycle of the Women Professors Program. You can find all the information here.

Academic mid-level positions

The Hessian Higher Education Pact 2021–2025, agreed upon with the state government, has made it possible to strengthen the mid-level faculty. Young scholars and artists in research and teaching at levels below the professorship have been specifically recruited, trained, and supported.

Under the current Higher Education Pact (2026-2031), funding has been incorporated into the university’s overall budget. The continued support of young researchers is a stated aim, with a view to ensuring attractive and secure career prospects in academia.

Organizations for the Promotion of Gifted Students

The federal government supports the educational paths of young scholars through scholarships provided by the 13 organizations for the promotion of gifted students, which reflect societal pluralism by representing various ideological, religious, political, economic, and labor-oriented movements. These organizations are united by their commitment to society and to fostering talented and responsible individuals.
